Marriage Celebrant Fee

The Marriage Celebrant fee is indeed an important consideration for couples as it has to be affordable to you, but keep in mind the value of your ceremony in the overall context of your special day.

Choosing a celebrant on price alone is not a good idea. The Celebrant's Fee is the least expensive of all your wedding costs and often a pair of shoes will cost more than the Celebrant! You will not be taking a risk if you choose an experienced professional celebrant and make sure you check references at the meeting.

I do not have a set fee, as I feel different couples have different requirements, therefore my charges will vary; however, my fee as a celebrant is reasonable and my couples always know they have received good service for their money. This is reflected in the awards I have received over the years where couples voted for me in the "Value for Money" category.

Please feel free to discuss the fee structure with me. I always offer an all-inclusive quote, therefore it will depend on what elements of the ceremony are required and also how much travel is involved; whether I will have to take along additional equipment; if the ceremony is in the CBD area I have to take into account parking costs (which can be quite high).

As a guideline, the NSW Births Deaths & Marriages Registry charges $450 (+$51 for the registered certificate) for a basic "registry style" wedding.

I have been a full-time dedicated marriage celebrant for the past 14 years and am a member of the Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc. (AMC) - a national body of professional celebrants.

My couples have voted for me in the awards I have received over the years for "Service Excellence", "Product Quality" and "Value for Money" but more important to me is the feedback I receive. Some of these are in the Testimonials page of this website – you can also look at folders with feedback from my couples when you visit my home, which will reassure you of the calibre of celebrant you are getting.

Amongst my equipment, I have a state-of-the-art portable PA system with lapel and hand-held cordless microphones, so you can be sure your ceremony will be heard by all your guests. It also has an i-pod/MP3/CD facility for you to use if you wish to play your own music.

Registry-style weddings at my home - $550

Often a couple wish to have a quiet legal ceremony with just 2 witnesses, or perhaps just the parents and siblings.

For such occasions, my fee is virtually the same as charged by the Registry. However, the advantage to you is that you can have the legalities conducted by me at my home in a more personalised manner. I will abide by your requirements and you may write your own vows if you wish.

Mini-weddings at my home - $600

Mini-weddings are ones where the couple do not have a specific venue in mind and prefer to hold a small intimate ceremony at my home and then proceed to their reception.

You are welcome to hold your ceremony here for small groups of up to 10-12 guests at no extra charge. My home is nestled in the beautiful bush surroundings of St Ives and the pictures below show the front "Bush Deck" and the courtyard at the rear of my house which is set amongst native plants and gum trees.

The words will include all components of a full marriage ceremony and I will help you to compose this.

You will save on hiring a venue. In these hard economic times this is a good alternative to a full-on wedding.

Mid-week weddings - $600

It is now becoming the trend for couples to choose a week day to get married. My services will be the same as for a weekend wedding, however I offer this discounted rate for weekday weddings (Monday – Thursday) unless it happens to be part of a long weekend.

I also offer a payment plan whereby you can pay a certain amount each month so that it is easier to work out your budget.

Nothing is impossible - Please feel free to call me and have a chat about fees.
